Jeff McCollum
As both a line
and staff manager, Jeff McCollums career has been focused on planning and
implementing large-scale organizational changes tied to business strategy. Over his career he has held leadership roles
in marketing, sales, finance, organizational development and HR. He believes that organizations function best
when the human spirit grows and thrives in them. His work is dedicated to that principle.
He
is the president of Star*Thrower Associates, a consultancy focused on
executive/middle management coaching, leadership development, assessment and
career development. He works with individuals, teams and total organizations to improve their performance.
Before
returning to private consulting in 2002, he was Director, Global Organization
Development, for Pfizer Consumer Healthcare a $2 billion consumer products
company where he played a key role in driving an organizational transformation
to improve levels of innovation across the organization. In that role, he was responsible for
supporting senior management in the implementation of large scale
organizational changes including the integration of two consumer business
following Pfizers acquisition of Warner Lambert in 2000 and the transition of
the corporate HR organization from transaction based to operating as a business
partner. He worked closely with senior managers to implement Warner-Lamberts globalization strategy and build a
team-based marketing organization. In addition, he managed the talent
development process and consulted to line managers on a variety of performance
improvement interventions.
Prior
to joining Warner Lambert, he created Star*Thrower Associates which focused on
improving performance in organizations through a combination of individual
empowerment and systems change. In that capacity, he was affiliated with Designed Learning, Inc. and facilitated
consulting skills and empowerment interventions.
He
spent more than 20 years with AT&T where he served in both line and staff
capacities including a key planning and implementation roles in AT&Ts
divestiture and subsequent changes in the late 1980s.
He is married to Jennifer Bush McCollum. He has three children from his first marriage and six stepchildren from
his current marriage.
He
is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Robert K. Greenleaf Center for
Servant Leadership in Indianapolis. He is active in church and community leadership.
He has published essays in Insights on
Leadership and Reflections on Leadershipboth published by John
Wiley.
