Lee Kang Yam
Kang Yam continues to dedicate his career to
developing the capacity for growth in both himself and others. From trainer to
consultant to entrepreneur, he explains that his professional work has gone
through three broad, yet interlinked phases of development.
Starting out as a capability builder in
Singapore, Kang Yam learned the ropes of management training and development
while organizing large conferences and workshops for public service workers. He
also planned and managed the training and development needs of officers on the
Economic Development Board. Through his work, Kang developed partnerships with
the Civil Service College and the Singapore Institute of Management to bring
innovative tools and concepts such as appreciative inquiry, accountability and
commitment to the local training landscape. Other workshop clients included: NCS
Pte Ltd, Computer Associates Singapore, Hewlett Packard Taiwan and Corning
International.
Kang next went on to work as a consultant in
both the public and private sectors. He conducted workshops in Singapore, Sri
Lanka and Thailand on the concepts of business process, change management and
knowledge management. Kang Yams client roster included organizations such as
the Accountant Generals Department, the Immigration and Checkpoint Authority,
Singapore Tourism Board, Ministry of Education, the Shell Bukom Refinery and
many more.
Currently, Kang is overseeing the business
development and operations of the training and consulting firm he helped found.
The Flame Center Pte Ltd., founded in June 2004, is dedicated to helping
individuals and organizations discover their gifts and realize their potential.
