Over the course of a varied career ranging from consulting and project management to general management and training, Peter Blachford has developed a rich experience of organizational complexities and with it a profound awareness of the need to harmonize the technical and human content of all endeavor.
His extensive business experience includes growing an entrepreneurial start-up into the leading distributor of computer supplies in the US. Responsibility for human resources in Canada’s largest paper chain, as well as experience in both external and internal consulting have added a staff perspective to a deeply seated appreciation of bottom-line business demands. Competencies in training and communications are complemented by hands-on involvement in acquisitions, strategic planning, and business development.
Consulting experience covers project management for Olympic Games installations, general management consulting for a small manufacturer and coaching individuals and groups, as well as several years managing a group of internal consultants.
As a partner in Effiqual Consultants Inc., Peter has provided training and consulting services in the financial, health, communications, retail and academic arenas to such clients as RBC, Pfizer, Bell, Canadian Tire and University of Victoria. By modelling the beliefs he espouses, he presents an alternate path for people to realize their potential through engaging both the heart and mind at work.
An engineer by training, he focuses on a systemic approach to business and human issues in order to foster a genuine understanding of likely consequences of interventions. He draws upon his own career experiences to illustrate the concepts he presents, and offers feedback to help people develop their own sense of how they can contribute to building the capacity of their organizations.
